Been a while since I wrote one of these but thought I'd give a little update of my season. Firstly, I'm delighted to have signed a contract with New Balance and join a great company and family of people who will support me in my athletics journey. It will be an honour to wear the New Balance vest in races in the future.
Additionally, in the last few days I have split amicably with my coach Rob McKim. We both felt that while I was situated in the Birmingham area, the remote coaching was not working. I have the utmost respect for Rob and will still value his opinions with regards to my running. I am now looking to work with Luke Gunn in Birmingham.
My primary aim for this season was to make the world championships team over 5000m. While the dream has not completely gone as the second round of selection to take place, I am running short of races, as am yet to find one before the deadline. While this is obviously disappointing I am still very positive and looking to run quick for the rest of the season.
This year I won the BUCS (university championships) 1500m and also ran a pb and commonwealth qualifying mark of 3:39.00 over the same distance. This also gained me qualification to the world university championships in Chinese Taipei at the end of August- a championship which I'm very much looking forward to.
Unfortunately, I have not ran as quick as I would have liked over 5000m although still ran 13.37 in France a few weeks back. I am hoping to drop a quick time before the end of the season and see where that will take me.
Excited to see what Performances I can produce in the upcoming weeks.
Stay tuned on twitter and instagram for future updates! 😊
